Afterschool Outdoor Adventure

description:

We are excited to provide a stimulating alternative afterschool experience to those students interested in adventure. Students will be picked up from their school by an instructor and travel to a nearby public park. Our instructors design and facilitate nature-based activities that meet the needs of our diverse community.

Activities range from local plant ID to foam sword training and combat. Slacklining and field games are a good way to finish out the sunny Fall months until herbal salve brewing and bladeless woodworking emerges in the cozy Winter months under shelter from the rain. We aim to provide the foundations of outdoor education from the comfort of your neighborhood playground.

Martial Arts with Moose

description:

Seamus "Moose" is a martial arts and wilderness living skills instructor who merges the two in this unparalleled program for middle schoolers that develops strength in mind, body and spirit. Students will not only engage with a variety of martial arts, but also learn about the cultures as well as the masters who created each art form and the corresponding traditions.

While the curriculum will predominantly focus on traditions from Muay Thai (an art from Thailand), students will also explore principals from arts like Karate, Taekwondo and Russian Systema. A large focus will also be put on the Filipino sword fighting system known as Kali, and there will be opportunities to learn stage combat and create our own choreographed "action scenes!” The importance of Yoga, Tai Chi and meditation will also be woven into programming.
